which I don't see Lotus as exhibiting here.

Nowhere is there a caveat saying "don't use R6 designer on databases accessed by earlier releases". If it was there, a whole lump of users wouldn't touch R6 with a bargepole, since it's a unworkable for a large complex organization (does this sound like the arget Notes userbase???) to enforce a wall between the two versions in a live environment.

So, no, Lotus hasn't done anything "wrong", but they also haven't done "the right thing", mate!
